The city of Pisa is one of the most important cities of Tuscany and among the most famous in the world, thanks to its universally known landmark: the Leaning Tower.
Pisa is a city modern and ancient at the same time, proud of its past as a world power, which was at the apex of its rule in the Middle Ages when it expanded its control over vast territories as a Maritime Republic, but today its fame is due to its three universities among some the most important in Italy: the Scuola Normale Superiore, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the University of Pisa.
Pisa is also an international city, connected to the world thanks to its international airport Galileo Galilei, making it a destination accessible from anywhere in the world.
There are many things to see in Pisa: you can start with a walk on the beautiful Lungarni (the Arno river flows not only in Florence), and then proceed to Piazza dei Miracoli, unique in the world for the amount of works present: the Cathedral, the Baptistery , the Cemetery and of course the Tower of Pisa … by the way, you know that is not the only leaning tower of the city? There is also the Church of St. Nicholas Church near the Lungarno and its bell tower of San Michele degli Scalzi, actually, in this case the entire Church is tilted.
