Versilia area is rich in colours and landscapes always different each other. Besides the sea and the Apuan Alps, full of caves and quarries, this region offers beautiful naturalistic oasis, among which stands out the Natural Park of Migliarino, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli that spreads along the coast from Pisa to Lucca covering more than 23.000 hectares. Here surrounded by dunes, woods, pine forests, streams and ponds lies the Lake of Massaciuccoli easily accessible on foot, on horseback, by coach and by bike: if you prefer you can also choose a tour by kayak or by boat, the best option for birdwatching enthusiasts. While visiting the park don’t miss a visit to the archeological area of “Roman Massaciuccoli” hosting the ruins of the roman “Villa of Pisulei” dating back to the 1st century a.c. The Villa includes a sumptuous building at the top of the hill, equipped with a thermal area and mosaic pavement, and some production spaces sited at the foot of the hill, like a barn, a cooking area, warehouses and some rooms used to accommodate the workers.
