53 Kilometers away from Forte dei Marmi, on a hill between Lucchesia and Valdinievole, the village Montecarlo dominates the surrounding territory, being characterized by majestic walls and a picturesque historical center full of small streets and squares made by ancient rock. The Teatro dei Rassicurati deserves to be visited, being the smallest Italian theater, completely built in wood. Also the ancient fortress, with the citadel, the arms square and the Italian garden.
Montecarlo is especially known, since the middle-age, for its vineyards and for wine and oil production: it’s a perfect stop for wine and food lovers! Not far away, near Gragnano, don’t miss the “Witches Oak”, a monumental oak over 600 years old, with a trunk of 4,5 meters wide, a height of 24 meters, and a 40 meters width crown.
